| Mule deer hunting in Wyoming will test your patience and your skills as a hunter. If you're used to hunting whitetails, a mule deer hunt will prove to be much different. I've guided a lot of hunters who are whitetail freaks, and I've seen many of them get buck fever over average sized mule deer. Even smaller mule deer racks can look big to a whitetail hunter. It is important to book a hunt with an experienced mule deer hunting guide who can help you wait for the big one. But, don't get too picky...you might not get another chance at a trophy Wyoming mule deer. |
| Wyoming, being the big game hunting mecca that it is, offers some of the best mule deer hunting in the country. The best mule deer hunting guides are the ones who know the terrain. Mule deer are very different from whitetail since they generally don't follow patterns and trails like whitetails. Scouting before hunting mule deer is just as, if not more, important as scouting for whitetail deer. Some hunters regard mule deer as "dumb", but as someone who grew up watching them in the Missouri River hills of South Dakota, I can verify that the ones worth shooting are far from dumb. Many times, the only way to see the "hog" is to catch him when he is "not as smart" - AKA - during the rut. When booking a Wyoming mule deer hunt, make sure your guide has all the required amenities, but more importantly, check out their past successes. Your trip to Wyoming should be one you dream about, before and after, so choose the right guide. The above mule deer outfitters have been in the business for many years and know what they're doing. I would recommend browsing their pictures, on this site and their own website, to get a better idea of their past hunts. I would also recommend looking into a combination hunt. If you're fortunate enough to make it out to Wyoming, you just as well make the trip worth it. |
